Football session 6 – Turning and receiving

Advantages – I am very good at turning because I know how to receive the ball and very quickly think of my next move and turn to get away from a defender. I am also very good at turning at speed which is a great way to throw the defender off balance and he will not be able to catch you as you accelerate away from you. Another advantage of being good at receiving is showing that you have a good first touch and you have good ball control.

Disadvantages – however I am not very good at turning at a tight angle because it is hard to get out of the corner when a defender is chasing you down. There are only a few things you can do to get out of that situation such as try and kick the ball off he defender and out of play, or quickly whip a cross into the box.

Football Session 5 – defending

Advantages – I believe that I am quite good when it comes to defending because I am very agile and quick which means I am able to stand up my opponent and chase after them if they somehow get beyond me. I am good at standing my opponent up when he is running at my or trying to dribble past me.

Disadvantages – I am not very good at tracking back once my team have lost the ball because I am sometimes slow to react to the situations. This is bad because of no one is going to get back into defence and get back into our shape.

Football Session 4 – dribbling

Advantages – Dribbling is one of my strengths in football because I have always had good footwork since I have started playing football. This is a good trait to have in football because it can give you an advantage against the opponent if you know what to do to get past a defender. One of my main skills in dribbling are step overs which is a very good way to throw the defender off balance when you are running at them while dribbling. Step overs are when you fake going one way by stepping over the ball and almost making an imaginary circle around the ball with your foot.

Disadvantages – I am not very good with using the outside of my feet when dribbling because it is very hard to only use the outside of your foot when dribbling. Another disadvantage of dribbling is that it can be dangerous to dribble in certain areas of the pitch, for example in your own box because if you happen to loose the balk in your box the opponent are most likely to counter on your mistake and most likely score.

Football Session 3 – Short and long passing

Advantage – A strength of mine is short passing and I am good at short passes because I have a good consistency in getting the ball to my chosen target, or just where I am aiming. I have a good body posture when I’m making a short pass, and I am good at approaching the ball at a very tight angle. Most people will keep their back upright when making the pass because you want to keep your balance and not fall over when passing. I am also good at positioning my supporting foot/leg alongside my passing foot because it will make my pass more accurate and consistent. Another skill of mine is long passing and which is one of my more suited techniques that are good for me because I am good at switching the play over to the other side of the pitch to create more options for my teammates. Long passing is also good because it can catch the opposition off guard, because generally everyone pushes over to the side of the pitch that the which the ball is on.

Disadvantage – sometimes long passing can be very pointless in some situations for example when your tea is trying to keep possession, because you are probably going to loose possession. Also If you are trying to do a long pass when the person you are passing to is too far away it is not going to work, and your going to loose possession of the ball and the opposition will take the ball and counter on your mistake.

Football Session 2 – shooting

Advantages – my main strengths in shooting are power shots, which are shots that you use your laces to put your foot through the ball and it can really throw the keeper of balance and can make it hard for them to save the shot. The best way to create a lot of power behind your shots is to land on your shooting foot after taking the shot. Another one of my strengths is a curve shot, which is when you try and bend the ball using the inside of your foot and try and curve it around the keeper and into the goal. This is an excellent way to execute your shot because it is very accurate unlike the power shot which can go anywhere.

Disadvantages – I am not very good with long shots because you have to create a lot of power behind your shot when you are shooting from that far out. One way in which I could improve my long shots are by observing the goalkeepers positioning and I can try and make it hard for him to reach and aim for the corners of the goal, and mainly keep my body over the ball when taking the shot.

Football Session 1 – Formation and tactics

Formation – it’s is important to have a structured formation, to maximise efficiency and chances for success. Which football formation is used is always determined by the strengths and weaknesses of the players in a given team. Beyond that simplistic reasoning for having a formation, these formations also represents an idea, or the style of the team.

Session 4 – Catching

Catching is a good skill to learn, and it is very specific to dodgeball because it one of the easiest ways to catch your opponents out when playing dodgeball. The skill of catching can be improved in many different ways such as having a partner throw tee ball off the wall from behind you and you will have to try and catch it. This is a brilliant way for you as a player to improve the technique of catching because the ball can be thrown at you at very high speeds which may be difficult to judge at the time. Overall I think that if you are wanting to improve your catching skills the best way to practice this is simply have people throw balls straight at you and you trying to catch it, this will replicate what will happen in a game.

Session 3 – Reaction Time

This is our third session on reaction time which is very important to a game of dodgeball because it can involve a lot of quick thinking when the ball is being thrown right at you , and you need to be able to react quick enough to either dodge the ball or even catch it if you can . It can also be very useful if you are wanting to get one of your opponents out because you can quickly fire a shot at one of them on the other side of the court if they weren’t looking or concentrating for example .

Session 2 – Dodging

The first technique for dodging is the ‘ go , stop , go ‘ which is a very good technique for dodging the ball being thrown at you because normally some one is going to aim a little bit in front of your when your running at speed so they can hit you , but if you are able to stop and then go again there is a high chance the person throwing is going to miss you

The second technique is ‘ the side on ‘ when you are facing your opponent side on they are most likely to have a higher chance of missing you when throwing the ball because you will appear as a smaller target and you will be much harder to hit .

Then the final technique is ‘ sprinting straight ‘ his is a very good technique for when your just trying to avoid the ball and run as fast as you can . This makes it very hard for the opposition to hit you with the ball .

Session 1 – Introduction

In our first session of dodgeball we all learned how we can set up the court by using all of the plastic strips , just to give us a feel for the size of the court and where we are aloud to go . We also just played slot of games of dodgeball so that we could get the feel of the game and we can have an idea of the main point of the game .

We started to learn about the main simple rules of the game and how we can know enough to even contend in the game of dodgeball . 1 of the most simple rules was that if you get hit anywhere on your body apart from your head your out for the game and u have to go and sit on the sideline , unless one of your team mates catches the ball thrown by the opposition and whoever has thrown the ball that got caught are also out .
